Waco Walks: Black History Month Walk with Baylor University Institute for Oral History
Saturday, Feb. 11 | 10 a.m. | Front steps of McLennan County Courthouse, 501 Washington Ave.
Adrienne Cain and Stephen Sloan of Baylor’s Institute for Oral History will lead us on an exploration of downtown with an emphasis on the impact and legacy of African Americans in Waco. We will learn stories of Paul Quinn College, A. J. Moore High School, the Farmer’s Improvement Society and much more!
Walkers are encouraged to pre-load the Waco History App on their devices, but this is not required to enjoy the walk.

ACCESSIBILITY: Most of the walk will be on city streets and sidewalks, but be prepared to navigate a few grassy areas, curbs and steps.
HYDRATION: Please bring your own water.
DOGS: Doggies are welcome, but they MUST be on a leash, and you MUST come prepared to scoop the poop! I don’t think we will be going into any buildings, but just in case, be aware that dogs may not be allowed in buildings.
BAD WEATHER/CANCELLATION PLAN: We plan to walk rain or shine, so if it looks like there might be some rain, bring an umbrella. If the weather is really bad or if we need to cancel for some reason, we will send out an announcement via the Waco Walks email list. To subscribe to the list, click here: http://eepurl.com/cG7kdj
