Lifelong Learning at the Mayborn: The God Particle
Have you heard of the Higgs boson (or God particle), but have no idea what that means? Then join the Mayborn to hear Baylor physics professor Dr. Jay Dittmann explain this in layman’s terms everyone will understand.
Dittman is part of a team of scientists who work at the Large Hedron Collider (or Super Collider) in Geneva, Switzerland. His work has him rotate between Baylor and Geneva. He was in Geneva when COVID struck and was quarantined there for more than a year. Come hear about both life in Switzerland and understandable scientific projects.
Baylor’s Lifelong Learning is a group of intellectually curious adults, age 50 and better, who gather for lectures, classes, and trips during daytime hours. Through volunteer leadership and member participation, the goal is to encourage ideas and the pursuit of learning while respecting diversity of thought.
Doors open at 9:30 am for refreshments, and the program begins at 10:00 am.
