Lunch with the Masters: Restoring Texas Tallgrass

Local prairie experts, Dr. Robert Creech, Director of Pastoral Miniseries at Baylor and a Master Gardener, and his wife Dr. Melinda Creech, are working to restore 80 acres of a family farm as prairie, planting native grasses and other foliage under a Pastures for Upland Birds Grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Their presentation will deal with the nature and importance of prairies, the state of their own restoration project including photos of the flora and fauna they have observed, and suggestions about how others might attempt such a project even on a backyard scale with a “pocket prairie.”
Bring your lunch and join the McLennan County Master Gardeners at The Pavilion at the Carleen Bright Arboretum in Woodway.
