Holiday Happenings 2015
The month of December is filled with holiday fun. You’ll find everything from Christmas concerts and theatre performances, to special events at many Heart of Texas attractions. Be sure to visit the HOT Happenings Calendar of Events for event details including ticketing information.
- December 3 – Bellmead Christmas Tree Lighting – 6 pm, Bellmead City Hall
- December 3 – Bellmead Christmas Parade – 7 pm, Bellmead Drive @ Loop 340 – 65th annual Christmas parade features more than 100 entries.
- December 3 -Stars Over Texas Jamboree – 7-10 pm, Lee Lockwood Library and Museum, 2801 W. Waco Dr. 6th annual Christmas Show with special guests Bruce Carbonara, Tish Stone and Frank Arellano. The band, cast and special guests will perform mostly Christmas songs.
- December 3-4 -Christmas at Baylor – 7:30 pm each night, Jones Concert Hall (Baylor University Campus) – The combined choirs of Baylor University and the Baylor Symphony Orchestra are conducted by Director of Choral Activities Alan Raines.
- December 4 -Dr Pepper Christmas – 6:30-8:30 pm, Dr Pepper Museum. Come see the home of the nation’s oldest major soft drink decorated in sparkling lights, Christmas trees, and garlands to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. Guests will be greeted by the sound of carols from local ensembles and enjoy food and drinks including Hot Dr Pepper and Big Red Holiday Punch. Kids will have the opportunity to remind Santa if they have been naughty or nice, enjoy children’s crafts, cookie decorating, and other activities scattered throughout the Museum’s campus.
- December 4-6 & 11-13 – Miracle on 34th Street – Waco Civic Theatre, 1517 Lake Air Dr. The classic Christmas story of one girl’s belief in Santa. Show times are 7:30 Thursday–Saturday evenings & 2:30 Sunday matinees. Box office hours are 2-5 pm Monday – Friday.
- December 5 -Breakfast with Santa – 9-11 am, East Terrace, 100 Mill St.
- December 5 -St. Joseph’s Christmas Bazaar – 9 am- 5:30 pm, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1011 Boston St. Fine art, crafts, homegrown products, antiques and collectibles.
- December 5-12 -Waco Wonderland –Heritage Square (3rd St. and Washington Ave.) 8 days of food, fun, and cheer. See web site for the full schedule and daily activities.
- December 5 & 13 -“Holiday Reflections” Christmas on the Brazos 2015 will showcase East Terrace (100 Mill St.) this year. Waco Historic Foundation’s historic homes are dressed up for the season and offering tours. East Terrace is the featured home this year, offering tours Tuesday through Sunday. Other homes will be open at various times. The theme of Holiday Reflections will not only highlight the location of East Terrace in regard to the Brazos River but also will be a reflection of holidays past as the historic houses will be decorated in different time periods of history.
- December 10-12 -Big Texas Christmas Present – The annual Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum event will benefit Compassion Ministries. For each item donated (including children’s toys, household goods, and gifts for teens and adults), you will receive one free admission pass to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum. Museum passes are good for 48 hours. Gifts can be taken to the Big Patio Party at Don Carlos Mexican Restaurant from 5-7pm on Thursday, December 10th; the Texas Ranger Museum from 9 am- 4:30 pm on December 11th, or Allen Samuels Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram from 11 am – 1 pm on December 12th.
- December 11 -Waco Symphony Orchestra Holiday Magic – 7:30 pm, Waco Hall (Baylor University Campus). This magical concert features timeless classics and sentimental musical favorites of the season, falling snow, a live reindeer, and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
- December 12 -Christmas in the Village – Mayborn Museum Complex, 1300 S. University Parks Dr. Celebrate the holidays in the Governor Bill and Vera Daniel Historic Village. This special event features exhibits and activities relating to life in the 1800’s.
- December 12 – Hewitt Christmas Parade – 4 pm, Parade route begins at Midway Middle School and runs along Hewitt Drive to Chama Drive.
- December 12 -Holiday Homes Tour – 2-5pm, East Terrace, 100 Mill St.
- December 12 -Candlelight Tour and Soiree – 6-9pm, East Terrace, 100 Mill St.
- December 13 -Youth Chorus of Central Texas Christmas Concert – 3 pm, Roxy Grove Hall (Baylor University Campus). The Youth Chorus of Central Texas presents a Christmas Concert.
- December 19 -The Story of Scrooge – 7:30 pm, Waco Civic Theatre (1517 Lake Air Dr)
- Paul Q-pek brings his one-man Christmas Carol to glorious life. Filled with original songs and complex, interesting characters, the Story of Scrooge brings joy to the holiday season.
- December 19 –Mistletoe Market – 10-5 pm, Waco Convention Center. Featuring arts, crafts, handmade gifts, and more.
