Very disappointed. Not only for myself but for several others who were very interested in th open positions- especially the two part time positions. Sadly they were told those positions had just been filled after being open for almost 2months. Why were those positions filled just prior to the job fair and are still listed as open on the website. I felt so sorry for those retired individuals who were turned away and left the event. I do not understand why the library continuous hire college students do the most part. No offense, but most have a very unreliable work experiences. The older individuals would have been more dependable and had their resumes in hand as recommended by the event organizers who promised on the spot interviewing. Not one college age kid was at the table showing interest. I inquired about the full time position for which I feel completely qualified. I even know how to locate an article on a microfiche!
I was in charge of the Junior League of Waco creation and complete leadership and development (which included managing of money) over 25 years ago when the Cameron Park began. The came was a huge success for the first four years. I was then able to manage enough profit to provide free scholarships for impoverished children for the following two summers which was our measurable goal. At which time I was able to transfer the project back over to the zoo, in the blue, which was the League’s second goal.
As I stated earlier I asked the woman at the library table about the full time research position for which I feel very qualified. I completed various research assignments at the Main Library for the last 55 years ( I am sure older than the woman at the booth). I then asked her if she wanted my resume. I told her it was my teacher resume because my computer had been hacked into for$10,000. It was in the process of being stripped. I would have to start from scratch, but I did know my application and letter of intent was still on the City Waco job portal. My resume which will take several days. To update but my skills are still listed. She said that position was about to be filled as well. I had to ask her to please take my resume. So I guess I made the trip for nothing. But I know I will find a job, but some of these other people were crushed. Again I ask why do yo hire for these positions almost immediately before the expo. It would have been better if you did not have a both at all. I say all this with the upmost respect. Thank you
