Community Composter Certification Course
The Community Composter Certification Course is an advanced compost education and outreach program to train residents of McLennan County in composting to create a network of compost educators and advocates in the community. Led by Emily Hills, director of Urban REAP, this “training of trainers” course covers:
- soil and decomposition
- composting science
- composting systems and tools
- composting within the community
- education and outreach
The course consists of:
- 6 weeks of 2 hours classes
- 1–2 field trips to local composting sites
- 25 hours of composting-related volunteer hours in the community
- The creation of an independent project that helps to share composting with others
Certificates will be awarded to those who complete the duration of the course and its requirements. Classes are held from 6 pm to 8 pm on 3/16, 3/23, 3/30, 4/6, 4/13, 4/29. (Participants are allowed one absence) and 3.7 Continuing Education Units are awarded through MCC.
