“The Things That Are Lovely” by Dorrie Ann Cobb

Dorrie Ann Cobb is a Freestone County artist who is a wife and mother of four. Since her early teen years, she had a love for art. As a young girl, she often watched PBS, where she discovered landscape Artist Bill Alexander, and from his teachings she gained more knowledge and style techniques to apply to her own works. Although she enjoyed art, her passion began to turn toward music. After high school, she moved to Nashville and pursued a career in music, where she worked with several touring bands in a variety of musical genres. Then, she decided to settle down back in her hometown of Fairfield with her husband, Paul, and began a family. She has since been a stay at home mother and serves in a local church as a praise and worship leader.
Dorrie, although happy with her title “stay at home mom”, also longed to find a way to earn extra income. Remembering her love for art during her youth, she started producing art once again, posting her work on social media, and the audience responded well. Since then, she has gained recognition across the region and has begun expanding her reach in the art world. She has been featured in three Exhibitions at The R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport, and has had her work featured at Tyler’s Art of Peace Exhibition at The Tyler Museum of Art, as well as Gallery Main Street in Tyler, where she won Best of Show and People’s Choice awards. She most recently had a piece in The Red Exhibition in Frisco at thegallery8680. She has done a solo show at Springfield Hall in Groesbeck this year, and plans to expand her work to the Waco area in hopes the community will receive her enthusiastically.
